NOTE: These are SINGLE SHELLS, not sets, and not complete beads. 

These are single Modern Standard Hardcore bead shells made from Delrin. They are listed individually to allow you to choose your own colours and build your own set. Please note that these are NOT standalone begleri beads. They weigh only around 2.5g each and require the Hardcore Gut System beads (sold separately) to give them sufficient weight to play well. They are drilled with a top bore of 4mm, designed for 550 paracord. They are fully Hardcore Compatible. Each Delrin shell will be sent with one string.

Aroundsquare's "Standards" begleri series is our homage to the ubiquitous “standard issue” Greek barrel shaped begleri. This series is a contemporary adaptation of the original timeless design, with a slightly refined shape, precision machined and polished to perfection. They feature the same 1:1 aspect ratio favoured by most players, and a compact form factor that is small enough to slip easily past the string instead of binding, and sufficiently rounded for comfortable play. The right angles in the design provide excellent bead control without compromising on nimbleness. 

The Modern Standard beads are sized at 16mm tall by 16mm wide, giving them the same overall size as two of our Hydra beads stacked together. They are Hardcore Compatible, and are designed for use with 550 paracord.

Delrin is a robust plastic material with very good impact resistance, hence its frequent use in things like knife handles and shop tools. It has a warm feel, and during play, it has a pleasant clack that sounds a little bit like wood. Although it is a plastic, it has metal like properties, and stubbornly resists cracking and chipping. It is, nonetheless a plastic, and it will scratch and dent in a manner similar to aluminum. One advantage of the material, however, is that the colour completely saturates the material, and therefore the colours are retained even after heavy wear.
