Standards Heavy Metal (all versions)

from $35.00

Aroundsquare's "Standards" begleri series is our homage to the ubiquitous “standard issue” Greek barrel shaped begleri. This series is a contemporary adaptation of the original timeless design, with a slightly refined shape, precision machined and polished to perfection. They feature the same 1:1 aspect ratio favoured by most players, and a compact form factor that is small enough to slip easily past the string instead of binding, and sufficiently rounded for comfortable play. The right angles in the design provide excellent bead control without compromising on nimbleness.

The Modern Standard sets are sized at 16mm tall by 16mm wide, giving them the same overall size as two of our Hydra beads stacked together. The Mini Standard sets are sized at 14mm by 14mm, comparable to two Mini Hydras stacked together. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of the design relative to our other products, is the generous top bore, designed to accommodate 550 paracord.

The Modern Standards are Hardcore Compatible, while the Mini Standards are note. Note that while the Modern Standard beads are sized to accommodate the Hardcore Gut System, the the heavy metal versions are sufficiently heavy on their own, and do not require the optional beads. Despite the compatibility, the Modern Standard sets were designed to stand alone, and the beads are sufficiently heavy on their own to play very well. The individual Modern Standard bead weights are as follows:
- Modern Standard - Copper: 16.0g
- Modern Standard - Brass: 15.1g
- Modern Standard - Stainless: 14.1g

Note that, if used correctly, the smooth polished look of these ain't gonna last. Please see photo included with this listing showing they type of wear patterns that you can expect on the three metals. Stainless steel is the hardest, followed by brass, and then copper.

All sets come with extra cords, stickers, and a carry bag, although colours and quantities may not be as shown in the photos.
