The Everyman Damascus Steel Series:

The Everyman Damascus series is made from damascus steel, forged from folds of raw material, giving it a natural knurled grain through the whole bead. Completely unlike our other beads, Everyman Damascus beads are not precision machined. Instead, they have been hand ground, hand drilled, and hand finished. This process helps to accentuate the natural look and feel of the material, making the grains more pronounced. Naturally, this process is also less controlled than computerized machining, meaning that there are irregularities in all beads: grind lines on edges are uneven, holes are slightly off centre, weights are variable, and so on. Please expect this, and if you want a more precision-machined look and feel, any of our other sets can provide that (at less cost)! That said, these beads have been carefully sorted and any beads with irregularities that might compromise playability or durability have been sorted out. The beads have been sorted into weight-matched pairs (within 0.3g of one another--small enough to be basically imperceptible).

The Everyman Damascus Steel beads ship with seven strands of luxurious 550 paracord, five stickers, and our new Aroundsquare logo velcro-backed patch. Note that although these sets are Hardcore Compatible, they do not ship with additional beads.

  • Hard, durable material, can scratch and ding, but the textured finish of the beads hides most scratches well

  • Natural grain, giving the beads a light knurled texture, which may smooth slightly over time depending on use

  • May develop slight patina over time, but not pronounced

  • Nearly odourless (very faint steel smell at times)

• Compatible with AO2's Hardcore Gut System (not included), and note that the gut beads are drilled for 275 paracord, while the damascus beads are drilled for 550

  • Varies, from 14g to 17g per bead (use drop down options to select desired pair weight.. all sets are weight matched)

General Info on the Everyman Design:

The Everyman series, is one of Aroundsquare's most versatile and well-known designs. The design of the beads is simple, intentionally "average"..  hence the Everyman name. It borrows some of the best elements of both the Titans and the Hydras, and integrates them in a fresh shape. It's bigger than one, and smaller than the other. It's nothing bizarre. It's just normal. It's average. It's the Everyman. 

The Everyman bead design updates the shape of the conventional "Standard Issue" Greek begleri for modern technical begleri play. The sloping top of the beads helps prevent the string from jamming up during rolls, like the rounded tops of the Titans. Like the Hydras, it features straight angles which help with grip and bead control, as well as a compact size which makes the beads nimble during play. While the beads are relatively small, at 17mm by 17mm, they feel substantial in the hand due to the angles, and carry good weight.
